Google releases Android 17 QPR1 Beta 4 with lots of bug fixes

Google releases Android 17 QPR1 Beta 4 with key Google bug fixes for compatible Pixel smartphones from Pixel 6a onwards. This version, released three weeks after Beta 3, addresses a number of issues including the mouse cursor vanishing on external displays, the shutter sound playing when taking screenshots in silent mode, and unstable video with frame dips when panning at 5x zoom or higher. Pixel 6 and 6 Pro still not updated. Android 17 stable release coming shortly.

All the official wallpapers of the Pixel 11 pro series including Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL and Pixel 11 Pro Fold been leaked in a fresh leak. The design concept of the series is a continual, subtle ripple of water across muted, neutral-tone backgrounds. The Pro XL is available in bright and dark. All models have the same animated ripples. Some people may find the look a touch bland but obviously Google is going for a quiet, inconspicuous approach.

Here's how the link invite system for Google Messages group chats invite links will work (APK teardown)

Google Messages is developing a link invite system for group chats. An APK teardown reveals an "Invite via link" option on the group info page. After toggling on, you get four sharing methods: copy link, send link (within Messages), share link (system share menu), and generate a QR code. The feature also includes a new pencil icon for editing group names. Not live yet, but nearing completion. Expected rollout in weeks.

Google has developed a Passive heart rate monitoring smartphone device that employs the front-facing camera to evaluate 8-second video clips of the face through a neural network. It measures your resting heart rate in the background as you use your phone normally - you don’t have to do anything. Trained on 350,000+ footage with various skin tones. Real-world tests against ECG and Fitbit revealed good accuracy, however errors occur when talking or moving the head.

Unlimited access is lost for heavy users. Low interaction for the app (3.2 stars, few reviews) but the shutdown adds to Google's graveyard of destroyed products (Inbox, Play Music, etc.) and hurts trust in Pixel exclusives.
